A new restaurant wants to take over the old Crossroads pizzeria
The corner building of 1501 Grand has housed a few pizzerias.
Prime Pizzeria wants to open in the old HomeSlice Pizza & Pints at 1501 Grand Blvd. — a high-profile location near the T-Mobile Center and the Power & Light District.
The restaurant, awaiting a liquor license, reportedly specializes in wood-fired pizzas like the Wise Guy (with sliced meatballs, Italian sausage and caramelized onions), Prime Prosciutto (with ricotta, fresh mozzarella, goat cheese, fig jam and prosciutto) and marinara (with hand-crushed tomato sauce, fresh basil and garlic but no cheese).
For starters, he provides a platter of bruschetta, meatballs with grilled baguettes and wood-fired wings. The menu would also include sandwiches and salads. As a starter, it includes grilled filet mignon, Atlantic salmon, chicken Marsala, lasagna, shrimp ravioli and spaghetti.
Peter Alvarez was a HomeSlice partner but said he left before it closed in mid-2019. He knows the owner and helps a new group open there.
Dukes on Grand/Downtown Pizza and Willie’s Kansas City also operated on site.
