IHOP National Pancake Day

Hungry diners will turn for these free pancakes. To celebrate National Pancake Day, IHOP is serving up a free little stack of buttermilk pancakes on March 1 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a good cause. In exchange for the free cakes, customers are asked to consider making a donation to support children in the community through Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Children’s Shriners. Even just a dollar or two helps and won’t blow your budget. (Offer valid for on-site dining only.) If you don’t make it to IHOP on National Pancake Day, the restaurant continues to offer all-you-can-eat pancakes for just $5.99. (This offer is not valid on March 1.) ihop.com/en/national-pancake-day

Days of the Dead Guys Frozen

Some urban legends are ultra-cool and actually true. There is a real “frozen dead” in the Netherlands and the city happily celebrates it every year. The body of the long-deceased Bredo Morstal was preserved in dry ice in a tuff shed by his (also deceased) grandson Trygve Bauge. The bizarre story inspired the small town to create a fitting celebration, Frozen Dead Guy Days. This year, the event will take place from March 18 to 20. There are lots of cool activities, including coffin racing, costume polar diving, ice cream turkey bowling and more. Entry fees range from $5 to $75. However, for many, the real fun is simply watching the mayhem for free as a spectator. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg for the three-day festival, as there’s so much more to relax and enjoy, including live music (in heated tents!) with a £25 ticket. $. frozendeadguydays.com
