Pizza Luna is permanently closing on the east side of Tucson

“Keeping Pizza Luna open only two days a week has proven too difficult.”

After five years of activity, Pizza Moon permanently closed on the east side of town at 1101 N. Wilmot Rd., #119.

The Portland-inspired pizza concept opened in 2018 by co-owners and operators Tracy and Marc Frankel, who also run businesses in Oregon.

Pizza Luna shared the news of the closure on social media, saying:

“Thank you, Tucson, for welcoming us so warmly five years ago. Now is the time to say goodbye. We are grateful for your sponsorship and all the wonderful memories.

Due to staffing issues and other pandemic-related issues, Pizza Luna had only opened its dining room from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday — a difficult situation for any local business.

However, next to Bubbe’s Fine Bagels, recently started – a second location is currently under construction – and the store is expected to take up the space vacated by Pizza Luna. Late last year, a longtime employee of Pizza Luna, Kyle Leuerwith his partner Becca Groffopened the bagel shop with the help of Marc and Tracy Frankel.
