Winegrowers’ festival this weekend

More than 30 wineries, including those not usually open to the public, will be featured at the Santa Cruz Mountain Wine Festival this weekend. The festival is by reservation only. La Vie Bohème expands its inventory

La Vie Bohème (712 Capitola Ave., 831-423-8318, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday), which opened in June and offers specialty foods as well as linens, home décor, soaps and barware, continues to add more inventory each week. Co-owners Wendy Melrose (Lina and Company) and Annaliese Keller (Malabar Trading Company) operate the store. Products include Miel de France honey, award-winning Malabar tea and honey creamer (flavor choices are orange, rum and almond), tea infusers and French presses, dipping bowls in olive wood and vintage Chinoiserie. They carry linen bread baskets and other items from Thieffry, which “has been producing high-end French linens since 1837,” Keller says. La Vie Bohème has Good Food Award winners from Lick My Spoon (caramel sauce, chocolate fudge sauce, cardamom orange chocolate bars). They are also the exclusive gallery of watercolourist Diane Devine.

Persephone Winemaker Dinner with Windy Oaks

Persephone (7945 Soquel Drive, 831-612-6511, persephonerestaurant.com) is hosting a Winemaker’s Dinner with Windy Oaks at 5:30 p.m. on August 28. The cost is $175 in advance. The menu features five wine pairings such as Manhattan Steak with Pepper Balsamic Sauce, Feta and Fried Potatoes with Windy Oaks Special Reserve Pinot Noir 2017. Additionally, Persephone’s “Second Sundays” series continues this weekend with a homemade barbecue and four different Syrah. See the website for more details on both events.

Viet-Cajun pop-up with Full Steam Dumpling

Full Steam Dumpling (1001 Center St. inside the Santa Cruz Art Center) is teaming up with pop-up store Auntie Manna’s for a sold-out 5 p.m. Viet-Cajun pop-up this Sunday. The menu will include seafood porridge, Vietnamese Po’ boys, crawdaddy spring rolls, fritters, okra and garlic noodles.

Taco Tuesday next week

Food Trucks A Go Go’s monthly Taco Tuesday series, where the trucks offer tacos along with items from their regular menus, continues from 5-8 p.m. on August 16 at Skypark (361 Kings Village Road). This month it’s Taquizas Gabriel, Saucey’z and Tacos El Chuy. Guests are welcome to eat at the park — seating includes picnic tables and a lawn — or take out. Dogs on a leash are welcome. Sea to Sky Food and Farm Tour on Deck

Community Cultural Tours is hosting a Sea to Sky Food and Farming Tour at 11 a.m. on August 27. Attendees will receive a guided tour of the farm by Sea to Sky co-owner Chris Laughlin. The property covers 19 acres; there is a second 24-acre form at Bonny Doon. The farm grows produce such as sweet potatoes, berries, culinary herbs and flowers. Guests will learn about the farm’s sustainable practices. Cost is $30 for one or $50 for two and includes tastings, appetizers, and beverages incorporating ingredients from the farm. Roaring Camp offers special dinner trains

Roaring Camp Railroad hosts several moonlit steam train dinners, where guests enjoy a barbecue dinner “followed by a leisurely train ride aboard vintage railroad carriages.” The next dates are August 13, September 10 and October 1. Additionally, on September 3, there is a Starlight Evening dinner. Participants take a train from the beach to the redwoods, where a barbecue dinner and live music await them. Retrospective pop-up at Avanti on Monday

Hindsight Seafood Café (IG @hindsightcafe) is popping up from 3-8 p.m. Monday at Avanti (1917 Mission St.). Selections will include half-shell oysters, baked oysters and shrimp cocktails. There will also be dirty martinis and other cocktails, plus music from DJ Ugly Eye. Hindsight regularly supplies food to Fruition Brewing in Watsonville Wednesday through Sunday.

West Cliff events this weekend

The West Cliff Food Truck Series continues with an event from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Lighthouse Field parking lot on West Cliff Drive.
