American River College has added more on-campus dining options for students.

Local Sacramento 5 Sips Cafe and Steve’s Pizza opened September 26 to serve students and faculty. Both are located in the student center.

It comes after the spot previously held by Starbucks which had been vacant since March 2020, when the college was forced to move its classes online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The hours of 5 Sips will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to Thursday. They offer drinks such as coffee and tea. Forgot to have your breakfast? They will serve pastries and bagel sandwiches for their breakfast option. For lunch they will serve potato salad, pasta salad and croissant sandwiches. 5 Sips in the future also plans to offer vegetarian options.

Steve’s Pizza’s first day serving students was held on September 27 in the student center cafeteria. They will be open Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

According to ARC communications and public information manager Scott Crow, 5 Sips hopes to add vegan and gluten-free options later.

Steve’s Pizza also plans to expand its menu in the future by adding wings and possibly fries. For now they will start serving pizza and drinks.
