Use pancake mix in chocolate chip cookies

But that’s no longer a problem, thanks to this nifty little hack. Bay Area Chef Nathan Price has discovered the perfect flour substitute that you are sure to find in the grocery store: pancake mix.

“Going to the grocery store and finding zero flour is obviously a problem, and you need convenience when trying to bake cookies,” he says. “Instinctively, I was like, there are other things that have flour in the grocery store.”

This thought process led him to the pancake mixes section of the store, which was packed with a huge assortment of brands. There are many varieties – from keto versions to those with egg substitutes – but Nathan recommends buying the very basic type (he used Birch Benders), one that’s just loaded with flour and a leavening agent that would work. great at those simple cooking projects. .

Once you have your pancake mix and a chocolate chip cookie recipe (this is the one Nathan used, with great success) all you need to do is measure a 1: 1 ratio. , so each cup of flour is needed. in the recipe can be replaced with a cup of pancake mix.

It’s worth mentioning that while this is a great hack, the cookies come out a bit differently than if you had just used flour. “The only thing I noticed was [the cookies are] more airy and softer, ”says Nathan. “Do you know if you make a pancake and the first side makes all these bubbles?” It basically happens in the oven, but baked around everything.
